Are you prepared for an emergency? Emergency officials work to ensure the safety and readiness of our communities, municipalities and province as a whole in the event of an emergency. As individuals, we also have a responsibility to ensure the safety of ourselves & our families.
If you are without electricity for an extended period of time, do you have the supplies needed? Do you have an emergency plan for evacuation of your home or community? Know the risks, develop a plan, and prepare an emergency kit before you are in an emergency situation.
Emergencies can be very stressful, and even more so if you are not prepared. If you take the time now to prepare for an emergency, you will be able to better cope with an emergency situation.
An emergency kit should be prepared that includes:

- Water (2L of water per person per day)
- Food that won't spoil (ie. canned food, energy bars, dried food)
- Manual can opener
- Flashlight & batteries
- First aid kit
- Prescription medications, infant formula (if required)
- Cash
